Introduction

Nursing Department was established in 1999; ın line with the universal values, country realities and requirements, it trains nurses who protect, maintain, develop and provide nursing care in cases where they are impaired, adopt lifelong learning, and the education period is 4 years. During this period, our students take courses in basic sciences and social sciences as well as theoretical and practical courses related to the nursing profession. Practices of vocational courses are carried out in hospitals, family health centers, maternal and child health and community health centers, kindergartens, schools, workplaces and nursing homes, depending on the content of the courses. In order to be able to adapt to their professional life more easily and provide quality care after graduation, our students practice as interns in various health institutions in their senior year. Our students complete the undergraduate program with a total of 4774 hours and 240 ECTS in accordance with European Union standards. Our department, which also has Farabi, Erasmus and Mevlana Programs, gave its first graduates in the academic year of 2002-2003. So far, 110 students have graduated from the Master's program in Nursing. The first students were enrolled in the doctorate program in the 2012-2013 academic year. Education is carried out in eight departments in our department. There are a total of 31 teaching staff in the Nursing Department, including 12 professors, 1 associate professor, 7 assistant professors, 4 lecturers with doctorate degrees and 8 research assistants/lecturers. The department has three education and research laboratories: Principles of Nursing, Obstetrics-Women's Health and Diseases Nursing and Child Health and Disease Nursing.

Undergraduate program in nursing aims to train professional nurses who determines the needs of the individual, family and society by using the holistic approach and critical thinking process; have the ability to conduct and evaluate evidence-based care planning; maintains the responsibility of lifelong learning and development; can create change and show leadership behavior; maintains loyalty to laws and professional ethical principles while performing maintenance, education, research, management, consultancy roles; and who can affect health policies for the benefit of society.
